Girls Riding High.
An Alaskan Mountain Biking Documentary.

A film designed to inspire the next generation of change-makers.

Girls Riding High addresses one of the most pressing challenges facing today’s youth: the mental health crisis. Alaska has the highest rates of youth addiction in the nation, and teenage girls are disproportionately affected by issues like anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. The film not only shines a light on these struggles but also offers a hopeful solution. Inspired by the Icelandic model of using high-adrenaline sports to promote mental health, Lucy Hankins’ program shows how connecting with nature and embracing challenges can foster resilience, confidence, and grit.

Through the lens of mountain biking, the film explores the power of mentorship, the healing impact of the outdoors, and the strength found in the community. By amplifying these themes, Girls Riding High aims to inspire communities worldwide to create similar programs and prioritize youth well-being.
